Carl Haslinger - Le fantôme, Op. 38

Carl (or Charles) Haslinger was an Austrian composer of the Romantic period, a student of Czerny, and the son of Tobias Haslinger, who was a composer and music publisher. Carl Haslinger's many works include an opera, 'Wanda, das Mädchen von Kalifornien', chamber music, and many piano pieces, including opera fantasies. His programmatic piece 'Le fantôme' is a fantasy dedicated to Berlioz. It begins with a thunderous, somewhat terrifying introduction, and moves through many different themes, like a whimsical allegro vivace passage in octaves and a lyrical piu lento section.
