Both the original songs are sung and composed by S.D. Burman Dada. ‘Dur kon parabase’ is based on a folk tune. Lyrics are by Gauriprassana Majumdar. Burman Dada has said in his autobiography: "There is no village or river in this part of eastern Bengal, which I had not visited. I used to collect songs during my holidays and in-between my studies. Whatever music is my capital today; is the result of the collected treasure of those days. Today, I am enriched with this one treasure only and my heart and soul still fills up with it. Now I am serving music through the treasure of my collection and sweet memories of those days. ('Saragmer Nikhad' translated by Anindya Bose) ‘Wahan kaun hai tera’ is based on ‘Dur kon parabase’. Lyrics are by Shalendra. This is what Lata ji has said about this song: “Guide mein Burman da ka gaaya geet ab main aapko sunwaati hoon. Aajke gaayakon mein Burmanda ki awaaz sabse alag hai, badi sahej aur saralta se gaate hain, lok sangeet ke prabhaav se unke gaane aur bhi pyaare lagte hain.” (Jaimala presented by Lata) The singer here is Girindra Majumdar from Agartala (Tripura) who has studied Burman Dada's Bangla music and sings his songs with dedication. In 2006, Girindra ji was honoured with 'Sachin Sanman Award. Singlehandedly, Girindra ji has produced a documentary on his idol S.D. Burman in Bengali, which now he is trying to add English sub-titles for larger audience.
