First time staying at the Renaissance in Amsterdam. As of our recording in June 2025, the hotel has been in the process of a multimillion dollar renovation... new rooms, restaurants, a cafe, etc. Unfortunately, the rooftop bar was not completed before the end of our stay. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Centraal trail station, the canals, great restaurants, museums, and the red light district. Can't beat the location. As mentioned in the video, this is the initial room we were booked into. Due to the ongoing renovations, our views were obstructed by scaffolding. The room category is great but can vary by location in the hotel. Most European hotel rooms can be small, but this one was larger than expected. Nice layout with plenty of room in the main area and the bathroom. One change we would suggest would be to relocate or raise the lighting fixture in front of a window. During our first day there, we did find out that there's a city wide test of their alarm system at noon. Also, the hotel tested the fire alarm system about 30 mins later. We were not informed of either test when we checked in that morning. I would recommend that the hotel staff inform any guests staying during a test day to be informed. We had to go to the lobby to find out that the fire alarm was a system test. Overall, the staff, the room, and the lobby bar/ restaurant were great. Highly recommend staying at this hotel. We stayed before a cruise and after, and we would stay here on any future trip to Amsterdam. Let us know if you have any questions below. Safe travels!
