In the remote tribal belts of Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, a painful tradition still persists — #Kurmaghar, a dark hut where women are exiled during menstruation. No clean water, no toilets, no light — just fear, isolation, and silence. For generations, women spent 5-6 days every month in these unsafe and inhumane conditions, treated as “impure” — stripped of dignity, safety, and voice. Making The Difference, in collaboration with Interise Trust, is rewriting this narrative. Together, we have built ‘Nari Shakti Niketan’ in Patlol village — a safe, respectful community center with clean water, toilets, beds, a kitchen, and above all, dignity. Here, periods are not a curse, but a natural process. Here, women reclaim their voice and their pride. This is not just infrastructure — it is a movement toward respect, safety, and self-worth.
