Spring is just around the corner, and I have to clear my place from synths I am no longer using. I still have (at the time of writing) my Alesis SR-16 on sale, and now I'm also placing my Yamaha FB-01. The FB-01 is a small 8-voice 4-operator FM synth module with a very spartan interface and a few tricks up its sleeve. You can easily configure the 8 voices so that it can sound as a regular 8-voice polyphonic, or have them all stacked in a massive 8-layered mono-synth, or distribute them across different MIDI channels. Volume, Pannings and tuning of each part is easy to do on the front panel, but editing the patches requires a software editor. This video was recorded directly from the FB-01 to my audio interface and the only post-processing was to normalize the sound. No added EQ or FX, but please account for some YouTube compression.
