Human remains discovered in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY - The Orange County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify human remains discovered Thursday afternoon. According to investigators, at about 3:30 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff s Office received a call about the discovery of human remains. The caller reported finding the human remains in a wooded area off FM 1135 near FM 105 in the Orangefield area. When deputies arrived in the area, the caller directed deputies to a wooded area off FM 1135 where they found the remains of what appeared to be a Hispanic male. The body was unclothed and decomposing. Detectives believe the body may have been at the location for several weeks. They're trying to determine the identity of the man. Detectives will remain at the scene throughout the night and into the morning when daylight will allow for a better search of the area for evidence. The cause of death remains unknown until the autopsy can be completed. Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Derry Dunn arrived at the scene and ordered an autopsy. The body was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue.
