There is nothing worse than taking an ungrateful person out on your boat, Adreno's Wayne Judge shares some tips on how to show your gratitude and get invited onto someone else's boat. To some, these tips might seem like common sense, and they are, but they won't go unnoticed by a boat owner. PAY YOUR WAY. Don’t make the boat owner ask. Offer some cash to help pay for fuel and all the other resources they supply to you. Always be on time. Don’t make the boat owner wait for you when you’re the passenger. Get there early and help them launch the boat. Don’t share another person’s spot. Don’t take other people there and don’t tell other people where to go. It’s an easy way to create conflict with mates and lose those precious trips on their boat in future. Help maintain the boats wellbeing. Use common sense when on board to avoid damaging the boat, keep an eye on your gear and what you’re doing. Pull the anchor in for the boat owner. Although the boat owner should check to ensure the anchor is secure, once you’re leaving don’t make them pull in the anchor. Don’t be the last person out of the water. This can be one of the little things that can annoy the rest of your diving crew. Keep an eye on what the boat owner is doing, and if they start to head back to the boat you probably should as well. Offer to clean the boat out at the end of the day to clean the mess you’ve all made throughout the day.
