This is not a sponsored video, this is my quick few tips for installing a wireless Carplay & Android Auto Retrofit For Mercedes 2009+. The unit offers excellent value for money but has several bugs, bringing its score to 3.5/5 IMO. When installing the unit in my 2018 C63S coupe I needed to put the unit down the side below the glove box because there was not enough space below the head unit. This isn't a problem but needs to get updated in the instruction manual. Because I didn't have aux input activated I had to use the additional 3.5mm to USB converter and the quality of this converter is very poor. I am unsure if it's this converter or the unit itself but one of them produces a high pitch ringing. Earthing the unit to the car body or the head unit doesn't change this ringing. It's not bad enough to turn off but it's annoying on short drives when you haven't adjusted. A few other bugs are The fact it's always active. When I sit in my lounge room, sometimes CarPlay takes over what I'm listening to. This might be a car setting to switch off that I'm not aware of but its certainly not easy to find The phone/microphone settings on the CarPlay unit are terrible. When you revert it back to using the car's Bluetooth it doesn't always work. When I jump into the car and drive away from work, if I make a call the CarPlay module takes over and I have to manually change to the car's Bluetooth to hear anyone. The CarPlay unit is not consistent. When I use my AirPods and then hop into the car, the CarPlay unit does not pick up audio. I have to stop the car, disconnect and reconnect to get audio out of the car The car intermittently puts Carplay on even when it's set to Radio. If you have the same car as me, you will know this bug is a pain. It looks like you playing music from CarPlay but its actually the cars radio When in CarPlay, you cannot see the temperature settings. If you want to adjust the temperature of the car's ac, you cannot see it within CarPlay. You need to exit to Radio or another screen to view the in-car temp. I love tech and am happy to use products like this but I wouldn't give this to my wife or someone else to use as they would have non-stop issues IMO. Maybe the CarPlay version with a full-screen swap over would be more suitable for my 205 model.
