An interesting snow event to say the least. Forecast models were showing a relatively weak front moving through during the evening hours of 1/7/2026, with the possibility of a few heavier snow bands mixed in, with the overall forecast calling for 1 inch or less of snow. I set up the time-lapse on the off chance of some cool clouds or features, as is typical for an event like this. Instead, the front strengthened due to an unstable atmosphere overhead, and what was supposed to be a few minor snow bands became a mess of snow squalls and overall heavy snow. while the front was supposed to move through within an hour or 2, the snow bands sat over the top of us for upwards of 4 hours or so. Convergence towards the end of the front also caused a narrow localized band of intense snowfall to "train" right over the top of us, causing the heaviest amount of accumulation. You can see in the video as I try to keep the camera clear of snow, because of how fast it was accumulating. In the end, we ended up getting around 6.5-7 inches of snow within about 4-5 hours, which is pretty impressive for my location. Watch as the snow accumulates, and the trees start to sag under the weight of the snow.
