Why do so many people feel alone even within their own community? In many African cultures, the idea of “it takes a village to raise a child” was once a reality. Families, neighbour's, and community members all played a role in supporting one another. But for many people living in the diaspora today, that sense of community can feel distant or even nonexistent. In this conversation, we explore the challenges of building genuine community among Kenyans living abroad. Why do some people feel excluded from diaspora groups? Why is it harder to connect, even when people share the same background and culture? We also talk about the responsibility of creating intentional community spaces, especially for the next generation growing up outside Africa. From parenting to belonging, this discussion touches on the deeper questions many people are quietly asking. Topics discussed in this clip: The reality of Kenyan diaspora communities Why some people feel excluded from community groups The difference between surface-level gatherings and real support systems Parenting and raising children in the diaspora How intentional community can change lives This is an honest conversation about belonging, culture, identity, and the future of African communities abroad. 💬 Join the conversation: Have you ever felt like an outsider in your own community? 👍 Like, comment, and subscribe for more conversations on African culture, diaspora life, identity, and modern society.
