2007 through 2014 Chevy Silverado check engine light permanent fix. 1) Remove the Fuse Box cover on the left side. Then Remove the lower knee panel with (2) bottom Philips screws the and the 10mm screw holding the Brake Release flipper and pop off. 2) Pop out the left A/C Vent and Headlight Switch module. Let it hang by its wires off to the side. 3) Partially pop off the Right A/C Vent, main dash panel, just enough to reveal the Instrument Cluster screws. 4) Remove the two little Torx screws under the lip of the Instrument Cluster Top Hood, tilt up a little and pop off by pulling backward toward you. 5) Unscrew and pop off the instrument Divider Bezel. 6) Remove the four little metric hex screws holding the Instrument Cluster in place. Lift out the cluster. Has a nice long pigtail with a single connector. Disconnect and lay the cluster on your tailgate. 7) Carefully upon the snap tabs holding the acrylic lens over the gauges, revealing the gauges. 8) Cut a 1/4" x 3/8" square (don't make it look half ass, cut it neatly) piece of 3-M or equal quality black electrical tape. 9) Have someone hold a flashlight to help you see the exact location of that most despised and detested engine light logo. You don't want to cover up your oil pressure light or another indicator light that actually has legitimate value. 10) Plug the Instrument Cluster back into its pigtail, turn your key to light it up, and make sure you've concealed the rat bastard engine light completely and neatly. 11) Snap the acrylic lens back over your cluster (good opportunity to clean these things as you go along) and reassemble everything. 12) Everyone pays you homage for accomplishing what no ASE Certified Mechanic ever has. You've extinguished a Chevrolet Check Engine Light PERMANENTLY.
