On Saturday, August 16th, at the Russell Theater at New Directions, we had an expansive conversation on men’s role in the Reproductive Justice movement. After we screened “Beyond the Narrative,” a short film created by our Kentucky Coordinator, Dr. Ana’Neicia Williams honoring Black fatherhood, we invited Dr. Edward Miller, Brad Edward’s of Dear Fathers and, Tre’Sean Durham and Dr. Maurice White to the stage for a discussion on mental health, gender roles, and what it looks like when Black men show up as advocates, protectors, partners, and healers in the fight for Reproductive Justice. As Reproductive Justice intersects every sector of our everyday lives, from environmental justice, community violence, and food accessibility, we must all be aligned to take action and achieve Black Liberation. This Black August and beyond, let's continue to hold space for Black men to share their voice at the dinner tables, community events, and even on social media, becasue Black men belong in maternal health.
