The Nips were a London punk band formed in 1976 under the name Nipple Erectors by bassist Shanne Bradley and fronted by Shane MacGowan, who would later gain fame with The Pogues. Originally part of the emerging UK punk scene, they combined raw punk energy with melodic sensibilities, producing catchy yet aggressive tracks that captured the spirit of late-1970s London. In 1978, they shortened their name to The Nips and continued to play the city’s vibrant punk circuit, including gigs at the Roxy Club and shared stages with bands like The Damned and The Clash.
