#delhicrime #keshavpuram #northwestdelhi #chandarnagar #Delhipolice In North-West Delhi, a silent battle between the police and a seasoned criminal has finally come to an end. The Keshav Puram police station team has arrested a habitual offender whose name fills police records across the city. Deepak alias Virendra Babbar — a man involved in more than 65 cases of theft, robbery, and housebreaking — is once again behind bars. The story began on February 11, when Anil, a resident of Chander Nagar in Tri Nagar, had gone to attend a wedding समारोह with his family. With the house locked and empty, the accused allegedly seized the opportunity. Under the cover of darkness, the lock was broken, cupboards were ransacked, and gold, silver jewelry, and cash were stolen. When the family returned home, they were shocked to find their house burgled. Upon receiving the complaint, the police swung into action. According to Additional DCP Bhisham Singh, a special team was formed under the supervision of ACP Akash Rawat and SHO Rajeev Malik. The biggest challenge for investigators was that the accused had worn a helmet during the crime and used a scooter with a fake number plate, making identification extremely difficult. However, the police did not give up. Nearly 600 CCTV cameras from the crime scene and surrounding routes were scanned. The scooter’s movement was tracked for almost 15 kilometers. After hours of painstaking investigation, a crucial breakthrough came — the same suspect was spotted in the Prem Nagar area without a helmet. That single mistake exposed his identity. The police then identified the suspected lane. Head Constables Lakshmi Kant and Sanjeev conducted continuous surveillance for over 24 hours. On February 18, as soon as Deepak appeared at his rented hideout, the police surrounded and apprehended him after a brief chase. Investigations revealed that the accused frequently changed rented accommodations across different parts of Delhi to evade arrest. He is also a declared “Bad Character” of Keshav Puram police station. Based on his disclosure, police recovered around 20 grams of stolen gold jewelry, housebreaking tools, gloves, and a button-operated knife. The stolen scooter, earlier reported missing from West Vihar, was also recovered. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the burglary along with his associate Vikas, who is currently absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to trace and arrest him. Once again, it has been proven that no matter how clever a criminal may be, he cannot escape the long arm of the law for long.
