Meet Brandon Broome, M.D. of San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists

Dr. Broome: I'm Dr. Brandon Broome, I've been with San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists since 2017. I've been in multiple different practice models, I started off in a busy academic center, doing research and I was a hospital employee. We were getting burnout, you know, we were getting out of touch with the the patient care side of things, because we were always just chasing a number and trying to run a factory more or less. I was looking for something different. And I meet my senior partner, Dr. Harris. They were looking for somebody new and I saw the model and it's just smaller, it's more in touch with our patients, and it's exactly what I was looking for. Our mission statement, our motto, you'll see through us and our staff is we want you to feel like a family, you're not just a number, we're not here to crank out another surgery, see another body in the office and move on. We want to catch people hopefully early in the process of whatever it is. Whether it's an injury or arthritis, and we want to be able to help them through that whole continuum of care. So not just the surgical part, which we really hope we've specialized in, but also the non surgical treatment things. So if you become part of the family, we want to be in it for the long haul. If you had surgery for us in particular with for me, it's a hip or knee replacement. You've got that part for life now. And so we've got to develop that relationship so that we can continue this going on forward. Being San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists, our partners are very important to us as well. And so we don't just do surgery at any hospital, we don't just send you to any therapists. I think the hospital is another huge part of the of the equation because it's not just your surgeon, but it's your support staff and the nursing care. And we do everything at a specialized orthopedic facility, the South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital, the care is top notch. But because it's specialized, the outcomes are improved. So you're not going to have the infection rates and the readmission rates and the complications that you you might see in another just one size fits all big hospital. One thing unique about our group is that we all do things similar, we all share the same vision. We may have a sports medicine guy and a total joint guy, but we share the bond of being part of your family. So if you're a patient of mine, you're also a patient of my partners. We do this all the time, because it's not about me seeing patients and another number. It's about you as the patient, being part of the family and getting the care that you need. One of the favorite things I like about my job is seeing people back getting back to life, whether it's from a non surgical treatment or from surgery. And, you know, Friday typically is a day when I see my post surgical patients back in the office and it's always a good uplifting moment to the end of the week because people are coming in, not in pain. They're coming to get happy because they're playing golf again.
