This is a vintage game film from a Philadelphia Catholic League basketball game between West Catholic and Roman Catholic High School played on Sunday January 25, 1976 at the St. Joseph's College (now University) Fieldhouse. This was an early season home game for Roman Catholic that was moved to St Joe's to accommodate a large crowd. These teams were both 5-0 in the Southern Division coming into this game and were considered two of the best teams in the city in 1976. These teams would face each other two more times in 1976, at the end of the season to determine the champion of the regular season in the Southern Division and again in a semi-final playoff game at the Palestra in March. Roman Catholic was coached by the legendary Speedy Morris and the Roman players included Mike Morrow (1st Team All- Catholic), Reggie Jackson (2nd Team All-Catholic) and Steve Compton (3rd Team All-Catholic). West Catholic was coached by Joe McFadden and their players included Michael Brooks (1st Team All-City), Mike Davis (2nd Team All-Catholic) & Bill McDevitt (3rd Team All-Catholic). Michael Brooks was the leading scorer in PCL history (27.3 average) and went on to play at LaSalle College and take LaSalle to the NCAA Tournament in 1979 an 1980. Michael Brooks would earn college player of the year in 1980 and was selected by the San Diego Clippers with the 9th overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft.
