1968 this is true, i love you. august possibly hail from philadelphia, pennsylvania, with members john betz on bass guitar, larry spurrier on drums, and rich knickerbocker (great stage name!) on guitar and kazoo! pressed on the nise sound records, this is classic late 68s soft garage, and one of my favorites that just gets stuck in your head. i always find it interesting when garage groups manage to record not only a single but a whole LP, which makes it even more curious why and how they faded into obscurity---was it the fault of the label's lack of marketing, or was the current music scene just not ready for these guys? they had another single on together records, but that is it for their musical contributions. maybe if a few years had gone by, they would have been more popular, but who knows? i would also like to point out the beatles cover eleanor rigby on the a-side that is spelled eleanor "rigbey."
