"Note on dB Testing: When comparing ducted and non-ducted AC units, keep in mind that ducted units will often read a higher dB level at the direct ceiling dump. This is because they use a fan designed to push air efficiently through the ducts, while non-ducted units use a cross-flow fan to help reduce air noise. With ducted systems, you also have the flexibility to open the ceiling assembly for a direct air dump to quickly cool a specific room, or keep it closed to run through the ducts."
