Illumination of opportunities and challenges at the crossroads between research in Greenland and Greenlandic society. One of the biggest challenges in science in Greenland and the Greenlandic society is the gap between the scientist like biologists, and hunters from local society. This research aims to understand what the gap actually means, and how Indigenous Knowledge is positioned in the classical science. To do so I used Visual Anthropology and made a movie to show the problem and challenges in science. The scenes are shot while the first ever Greenland Science Week in 2019 occurred. This resulted in a movie showing how science is collaborated here in Greenland, and to give a glimpse of what a locals eyes view is experienced, alongside interviews with local hunter experts, artist and fishermen – doing an oral experience on how they see and experience knowledge and how they experience scientist in this field. The conclusions of this thesis is, the gap between these two worlds is a lack of acknowledging the Indigenous Knowledge in Greenland. How western and euro-centrical knowledge is valued higher and has a higher status in science general here in Greenland and how much we need to embrace and use local and indigenous knowledge to expand knowledge and the use of it in our local societies. The purpose of indigenous knowledge in this sense, is to engage the local communities, and to show that indigenous knowledge has their own systems and processes, and how can we use that better in the society with engaging the students and local communities better.
