Exploring the beautiful countryside around White House and Hagg Bridge caravan site in Weardale, Durham. Filmed using both the DJI Mini 3 Pro and the Mavic 2 Zoom in June, July and August of 2022/3 you can see the surrounding hills of the North Pennines as well as the disused La Farge (Blue Circle) cement works and the village of Eastgate. Hagg Bridge crosses the River Wear on the site. This bridge was built by Durham County Council to replace one damaged by floods in 1995. An early wooden bridge existed here in the 19th century and was replaced by a stone bridge following flood damage in 1881. Eastgate is a small village on the north side of the river on the A689 and formerly marked the eastern boundary of the Bishops of Durham's hunting park. Until 2003 the Lafarge (Blue Circle) cement works was sited west of here and gave employment to many in the Wear valley. It also marked the terminus of the railway at that time. The site has been largely cleared. There is another video on my channel showing the cleared Blue Circle site - • Weardale Works (Blue Circle Cement Works) ...
