New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the West Bengal government during her reply to the debate on the Union Budget 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha. Rebutting TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s remarks on GST, Sitharaman criticised claims of “GST after death” and took a swipe at the alleged “cut money” culture in the state. She also questioned high fuel prices in West Bengal, saying petrol was ₹10 costlier than in other states.
