With this video, I continue my little series on Abloy and other classic disk detainer locks by picking and gutting an Abloy Exec padlock. Previous videos on this topic include: Abloy Classic: • Abloy Classic Picked & Gutted Abloy High Profile: • Abloy High Profile Camlock Picked & Gutted Abloy Sentry: • Abloy Sentry Picked & Gutted Anchor Lås Disk Detainer: • Anchor Lås 800-3 Disk Detainer Padlock Pic... The Abloy Exec has 11 disks in total: 2 rear disks with known max rotation bitting - used for rear tensioning 8 "active" disks the bitting of which is unknown and must be determined 1 front disk that is directly linked to the "disk steering system" In this lock, the front disk can be over-rotated thus preventing front-tensioning. In addition, there is a front plate for key profile control and a small mechanism of two "dolphin wafers", also for key control. However, both do not signifficantly affect picking. Like the Abloy Sentry, the Exec also features a "disk steering system", essentially a split metal plate that extends vertically through the entire keyway and significantly restricts the freedom of movement of the picking tool. Fortunately, the possible thickness of the picking tip is not so much limited by the front plate as in the Sentry but allows a shaft of up to 2 mm thickness. The inner profile of the last disk is slightly narrower than that of the other disks to check the key profile, but this has only little impact on the picking process. Due to the unique design of the front part and the "disk steering system," I had to create another custom picking tool. This time, I used an ejector pin with a 1.5 mm shaft for the tensioner. For the picking tip, I used a piece of 2 mm steel tubing, to the end of which I silver-soldered a piece of sheet metal from a broken pick and filed it to shape. Both picking tip and tensioner fit perfectly into the handle from RWB custom picks. The Abloy Exec is ranked black in the LPU belt ranking system. 00:00 Introduction 01:38 Picking 06:03 Open 06:53 Gutting 12:50 Close up
