Diesel Heater Installation for Home: New Year’s Edition [0:05] Happy New Year! As this video goes live, we’ll be on our way to California, but first, here’s a crucial project: installing a diesel heater for our home. [0:22] This is particularly important as we've had a tough December with $3,000 in roof damage from leaks, followed by our AC breaking down! This new heater will serve as our backup heating system. [1:10] Let’s dive into the details! We got the Hcalory heater—a great option to ensure our home stays warm. Unboxing the Heater [1:32] Time for a little unboxing! Inside, we found a neatly packaged second box and a comprehensive manual—much better than previous experiences with heater manuals. [2:39] Here’s what’s included: • The heater itself • Exhaust pipe • Air outlet pipe • A user-friendly manual • 110V power supply • Control panel cable • Exhaust components and necessary installation hardware [4:25] The feet of the heater attach easily, allowing for secure placement. Installation Steps [4:55] Next, we’ll install the exhaust, making sure it’s positioned furthest from the fuel line. This ensures safe operation. [5:19] I ran into some challenges with the clips provided; they're not durable, so I replaced them with better-quality ones for a secure fit. [7:04] Now that the air intake and exhaust are secure, it’s time to add diesel. The heater holds just over a gallon, which provides approximately 24 hours of heat. First Startup [7:54] It’s time for the first fire-up! Let’s see if the remote works. [8:09] Success! The heater is responsive and adjustable, with settings up to 10. [8:28] After adding diesel, we can hear the pump priming, and the heater is already producing heat! Final Thoughts [9:31] A couple of excellent features include a built-in carbon monoxide sensor and the ability to operate at altitude, adding to its versatility. [10:01] With the grandkids here, we’re all excited to ring in the New Year. [10:14] This 5 kW heater will be perfect for emergencies and general heating needs. Despite the clip issues, I’m thrilled with its performance! By the time this video is out, we’ll be traveling, but I’m confident in our new heating solution. Thank you for following along, and we’ll see you in the new year! van dwelling #vanlife #hcalory
