This footage is from the VHS archive of John "Fin" Findlay, who sadly passed away in January 2003 and is always missed by his friends and family. In the late 80's Fairfield City Council in Sydney Australia had a vert ramp built at the local swimming centre. As the ramp was slightly taller than any exhisting vert ramp of the time, it quickly became a hub for Sydney vert skaters. A year or two after the vert ramp was built, due to its popularity, the council expanded the skateboarding facility with a Labyrinth mini ramp designed and built by Scott Spring. Fin being the man of ideas and lover of skateboarding that he was, and a local to the area, he opened a skate shop directly across the street from Fairfield Train Station, which was only a block away from the skatepark. Fin's shop "Curb'N'Coping" became THE stop off point on your way to the ramp. At some point in the late 80's or perhaps early in 1990 Fin purchased a VHS-C camcorder and began to document his skating and travels along with the help of his friends. The following footage of Fin and his great friend Cary O'brien is just the start of Fin's journey on video and around the world as a skateboarder who simply loved skateboarding.
