Paul O Montis 1894 1940 Born April 1894 in Budapest. He grew up in Hannover. In 1924 he went to Berlin where he made his first cabaret apprearances and soon became well known. O Montis appeared in all large venues, including the "Boulevard Theatre",. "Scala", "Simpl" etc. He also broadcast on the Radio. in 1927 he made his first album "Odeon". Two years later he moved to the "Deutsche Grammophon AG". But in 1933, his career came to an end with the rise of the Nazis. Paul O Montis emmigrated to Vienna where he lived until 1938 as German citizen. He then fled to Prague but was later arrested for being a Jew and a homosexual. In 1940 he is moved to Sachsenhausen where on 17th July 1940 he hanged himself as he could stand the torture no longer.
