Slow, then full-speed runs through of two well-known Scottish 4-part jigs on Low Whistle to demonstrate playing without tonguing and the "finger articulation" used in its place. This clip was done (fairly hastily, so not error-free) on Low Whistle for clarity of fingering etc. It is a response to this thread on Chiff & Fipple; http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/view.... There are a few fluffs in Jig of Slurs because I normally play that on flute, and I don't "normally" play Atholl Highlanders at all, except (and then usually on piccolo) for barn dances/ceilis.... Anyway, the slow versions are completely tongue-free but the faster ones may have the odd unintentional tongue-stroke slipped in (not many, though) in addition to a finger-articulation. The rising arpeggios in the B music of Atholl and a few other things may sound as if tongued, but they are absolutely not, though I do use diaphragm pushes for attack in places and breath stops (kinda just stop blowing, like a very gentle "glottal" throat stop) to end some notes.
