Backpacking to Kolob Arch via Lee Pass trailhead in Zion National Park, Utah, on November 9-10, 2019. This was our first time to hike into the backcountry of Zion National Park in the Kolob Canyon area. We started at the Lee Pass trailhead and hiked down La Verkin creek into camp site area #10. We witnessed amazing views on this spectacular trail. This is a must see for those who want to visit parts of Zion National Park that you can't see from the road. Round trip journey was about 16 miles. Going this time of year proved to be amazing with the great temperatures for hiking and very few people on the trail. Simply amazing. Even my Emoji had some fun and snuck into the video. Enjoy. Additional information. For those of you who are trying to plan which camp site to reserve, well it really doesn't matter. All sites have some sort of spectacular view. In the video I show where many on the campsites are located and the views of each area. If you are looking to minimum the distance needed to pack in your heavier gear and prefer to day hike the majority of it with day packs, then camp sites 1-3 would be a good match. This would get you off the road and into the wilderness overnight but save the majority of the hiking as a day hike with lighter gear. By the time you reach camp site 4 you have descended the entire 1000 feet into the river drainage. From this point the remainder of the hike is relatively flat.
