Whilst we completely overestimated our sailing abilities and were totally underprepared for the bigger waves, we did somehow make it into the open ocean - which was hilariously dangerous. Our sailing trip in Sunshine Coast started on one of the islands in Maroochydore, where the catamaran was moored. Our glorious plan was to sail off into the sun to Mudjimba Island, a small rocky outcrop that sits off the Sunshine Coast. But once we made it through the choppy waves and tacked through the strong oncoming winds, we experienced far bigger waves than we had imagined! As fun as it was, we knew were close to capsizing, so we hastily turned around and rode a few magnificent waves back into the safety of the bay where we decided to sail to some of Sunshine Coast's uninhabited islands including Pin Cushion and Goat Island in the Maroochy River. This was one of the best day trips to Sunshine Coast in a long time, and it cost nothing. Not a bad way to travel Queensland and explore the gorgeous Sunny Coast beaches and islands. #SunshineCoast #Maroochydore #MudjimbaIsland
