Purple Stain 🫟 by Born To Stand Out Born To Stand Out has quickly become one of my favourite brands to talk about lately. There’s something about them that feels fun, unique and genuinely exciting. After falling in love with a few of their scents from the Eau Intimité and Eau de Parfum ranges, they’ve now taken things up a notch with the launch of their Extrait Extrême collection. As the name suggests, these perfumes are intense. They carry an impressive 50–60% fragrance concentration and are macerated in onggi – traditional Korean pottery – which naturally ages and enriches the scent. The collection currently features four fragrances, each with its own distinct character, but the one I couldn’t put down was Purple Stain. Inspired by the image of a glass of red wine spilled across a leather-bound journal, it opens with a luxurious saffron note that immediately gives off the feel of supple, high-quality leather. It’s smooth, rich and slightly sweet, with a delicate spice running through it. Then, a playful grape note emerges – juicy, candy-like and a little sticky-sweet – adding a burst of fruity fun. The fragrance deepens as it develops, becoming richer and more intense, like swirling purple wine in front of a roaring log fire, before finally settling into a refined woody oud base that adds depth and sophistication. This won’t be for everyone, but I’ve really enjoyed wearing it. It’s intriguing, memorable and has already brought in a few compliments, which is always nice!
