Where was pharaoh Sneferu buried? This question has long tormented Egyptology, with no evidence-based consensus ever reached. With three pyramids to choose from and no sarcophagus to be found inside them, little progress has been made in solving the riddle. But what if Sneferu's burial was hiding in plain sight the entire time? The enormous structure known as Mastaba 17 is just as mysterious as the three-pyramid-problem of Sneferu. This video examines the physical evidence of Mastaba 17 and compares it to the other noteworthy tombs of its time. The greater context of tomb security and the burial of kings is explored, and a more coherent model of the Old Kingdom is presented. Only now can the full history of Sneferu be appreciated and the notoriety of his successor Khufu may be properly scrutinized. -------------------- Join this channel to get access to livestreams: / @historyforgranite -------------------- Thanks to the Isida Project for photos: https://isida-project.ucoz.com/ Thanks to Keith Hamilton for his Mastaba 17 guide and diagrams: https://independent.academia.edu/Keit...
