In this video from ISC 2018, Oliver Tennert from NEC Deutschland GmbH introduces the company's vector computing technologies for HPC and Machine Learning. The NEC SX-Aurora TSUBASA is the newest in the line of NEC SX Vector Processors with the worlds highest memory bandwidth. The Processor that is implemented in a PCI-e form factor can be configured in many flexible configurations together with a standard x86 cluster. No special framework is needed to build the applications, but standard programming paradigms in C/C++ and Fortran, for which the NEC compiler will automatically carry out vectorization and parallelization. To start our booth tour, Shintaro Momose, Principal Engineer, describes the different configurations of the company's new Aurora Vector Engine. With a full product line of vector machine configurations, NEC's current offerings culminate with the high-end NEC SX-Aurora TSUBASA A500-64 featuring up to 64 vector engines and liquid cooling. After that, Dr. Erich Focht from NEC Deutschland GmbH describes the company's set of programming environments for porting code to Aurora vector processors.
