When: February 21–23, 2020 Where: The Orthopaedic Learning Center (OLC) - Rosemont, IL 60018 Intended for arthroscopy fellows completing their training and preparing for practice along with PGY5 residents with an interest in arthroscopy and sports medicine, this 2 ½-day advanced skills course features extensive cadaver lab time for hands-on open and arthroscopic surgical skills development as well as relevant updates on current techniques. Lab sessions are enhanced with interactive demonstrations and discussions, including audience participation on topics such as making diagnoses, operative procedures, patient cases and practice management. The ultimate goal is for participants to look back on this weekend as one of the greatest educational experiences of their careers. One of the most unique features of this course is its design. Each participant will select one joint to focus on for didactics and cadaver lab as well as attend general instructional sessions incorporating all three joints. In addition to practicing in the surgical cadaver lab, participants will train on the world’s most cutting-edge virtual arthroscopy simulators and have the exclusive opportunity to participate in a diagnostic and interventional ultrasound dry lab session. New for 2020, participants will also experience an interventional orthobiologics session with demonstrations on the use of PRP and BMAC for the office and OR. This course is returning for its third year, and already residency and fellowship directors are choosing to send their residents and fellows for the breadth of the curriculum and intellectual insight of the faculty. All instructors are carefully selected for their dedication to teaching, depth of knowledge, surgical skills and expertise as lab instructors. Purposely timed mid-scholastic year, this course offers an exclusive chance to both review prior skills and preview new ideas and techniques as participants head toward completion of this phase of their education and move closer to their own practice.
