This trip started with a simple lunch idea – ride to Loch Fyne Oyster Bar for a bite... even though Loch Fyne is about a 10-hour round trip (without stops). We left County Durham and covered over 450 miles round-trip on some of the most scenic and dramatic roads Scotland has to offer. Despite amber wind warnings, the rain held off – and instead, we enjoyed a breathtaking ride, great food, and a few surprises along the way. When we arrived, we found that the oysters in the deli weren’t shucked (oops)... but luckily, they were running a £1 shucked oyster special, so we grabbed that, along with some fish and chips and a salmon salad – and it was all absolutely worth the ride. That said, a ride in Scotland is always worth it. Just when we thought it was time to head back, Deon said: "I wish we were going further that way..." So we almost did – taking a scenic detour back not 'that' way but via Loch Lomond, Grey Mare’s Tail, and St Mary’s Loch — still one of our favourite roads to ride. We also saw some amazing bikers along the way, including one very impressive female rider.
