Hello, this is Hiro, the Japanese Salaryman. Let me do a little bit of promotion! Promo ① I created a Google Map that collects all the spots I’ve visited in my videos. There aren’t many places on it yet, but the more videos I make, the more it will grow. ■ Google Map of spots featured in my videos https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mi... Promo ② To celebrate reaching 10,000 subscribers, I’ve started a channel membership. Honestly, I can’t promise special videos or perks at this point, so it’s basically like a donation. But if you’re okay with that, I’d be really happy if you joined. / @japanese_sala Promo ③ I made a Google Form where you can suggest spots you’d like me to visit in future videos. I might use these suggestions as references when deciding where to go! ■ Google Form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FA... I also created a Google Map based on the suggestions submitted through the form. Since I update it manually, it won’t reflect your submissions right away… If you want to check quickly, please refer to the spreadsheet that feeds into the map. ■ Google Map of places you’d like Hiro to visit https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mi... ■ Spreadsheet (source for the map) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... Another long week, another plate of comfort. I’m Hiro—an Osaka salaryman (≈65 hours/week) and friendly neighborhood debtor—trying to stay sane the only way I know: cooking at home in a 6-tatami apartment. As we say in Japan, binbō hima nashi—“the poor have no free time.” Same here. In this vlog I: 🍚 Start with fresh rice from the morning pot and a tour of my one-room kitchen (two burners… somehow not meant for real cooking). 🥣 Build a simple miso soup from katsuobushi dashi, leftover tofu, and shimeji mushrooms. 🧅 Sauté onions (raw = punch, cooked = peace), then add Iberico pork—gracias, Spain. 🫚 Make shōgayaki (ginger pork) with a dead-simple sauce: soy : sake : mirin = 1 : 1 : 2, plus grated tube ginger. 🧼 Confess my “dishwashing grind” is half truth—there’s a dishwasher—but today I film hand-washing. 🪵 Care for my hinoki cutting board: wash, light soap, alcohol spray, and fan dry. 😴 Close my eyes and let work slip away… until tomorrow starts exactly the same. If this slice of real Japan hits you, Like, Subscribe, and tell me your comfort classic: shōgayaki or something else?
