IntraOp Demonstration: FLASH with electrons (FOR INVESTIGATIONAL USE ONLY)

FOR INVESTIGATIONAL USE ONLY Ultra-High Dose Rate (UHDR) functionality for FLASH Radiotherapy is for investigational use only and is not cleared for sale by the US FDA. In pre-clinical testing, FLASH radiotherapy (40-400Gy/sec encompassing the entire tumor) has demonstrated a number of biological benefits and an improved therapeutic index by producing a protective effect for normal tissue. In animal models, FLASH treatments have demonstrated similar levels of tumor control with significantly less normal tissue damage. Hence, this technology represents a potential to both expand and improve the role of radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer. In this video, IntraOp, the leader in electron therapy, demonstrates the first mobile linear accelerator available for preclinical and research testing of FLASH radiation with electrons. This demonstration was conducted on a modified clinical device capable of translation to humans. This achievement represents a major milestone towards accelerating research of FLASH with affordable and scalable technology. This equipment is for preclinical testing and research only.
