Jubayed Rahman was a promising leader of the Jagannath University unit of Chhatra Dal, known for his politics rooted in principles and ideology. According to his classmates, he was a calm, sincere, and dedicated activist deeply committed to his organization. The tragic incident took place at a house in Armanitola, Old Dhaka, where Jubayed used to give private tuition. Witnesses reported that the attackers were organized and their intent was clear — to eliminate Jubayed completely. Moments after the attack, two individuals were seen fleeing the scene, and CCTV footage captured their escape. However, their identities have yet to be confirmed. Multiple sources suggest that political vengeance may have been a motive behind the murder. Conflicts between ruling party activists and opposition student groups are nothing new in university politics. According to Chhatra Dal President Rakib, Jubayed had been tortured multiple times by Chhatra League activists during the current Awami League regime — a possible reason behind his murder. Some believe Jubayed fell victim to a politically motivated attack, where dissent is often treated as hostility. Another version claims the murder may have been connected to a personal issue involving the girl Jubayed tutored — allegedly, her boyfriend and his associates carried out the killing. However, this claim remains unverified as investigations continue. Jubayed’s family and fellow activists insist this was not an ordinary crime, but a planned assassination. Following his death, Dhaka University Chhatra Dal and several affiliated organizations have taken to the streets demanding justice. Whatever the motive behind this tragedy, Jubayed Rahman will never return. Until justice is served, his name will remain a symbol of resistance and sacrifice.
