Children’s Day Interactive Dance Session – A Look Back

For Children’s Day, we teachers put together a fun and lively dance-along performance on stage for all the learners from TT to SS. Our aim was to create something interactive and enjoyable that the children could easily connect with. We began by teaching the hook step first, since it comes up many times in the song. This helped the children follow the routine more confidently when the full dance started. We used the song “Dance Monkey” and played with different tempos—slow, normal, and fast—to make the experience more exciting. We also mixed in different styles like Cumbia and Bhangra, which added variety and made the performance more colourful. To keep the children engaged, we included fun moments like freeze, the robot dance, and follow-the-instrument cues that appeared on the screen. These small elements made the audience feel involved and kept the energy high.
