I have been craving to go back to Kashmir ever since I first stepped here in May 2016 and fell in love with the beautiful snow capped mountains, pristine lakes, lush green valleys & the warm friendly people. Since December 2018, I was wanting to go somewhere to experience snowfall but travelling to most places in the North one has to spend hours on the road and you never know when you can get stuck in road blocks or avalanches in the winter months. Kashmir is the most convenient place to see snow and catch some snowfall as Srinagar airport is well connected with all major cities. A short drive to Gulmarg, which is about 50 kms away followed by a Gondola ride takes you to phase two where you can enjoy lovely snow throughout the year. The ride up the Gondola cost Rs.700 to phase I and Rs. 900 to phase II. During this trip I visited Gulmarg on a days visit to enjoy winter sports. It's one of the most beautiful mountain regions overlooking the Pir Panjal range in the Himalayas. In Srinagar there are numerous places to visit like the Dal lake, the many gardens, though they come alive in spring and summer. (I will shortly upload a vlog from my spring visit and share the link here). A stay in the houseboat is a good experience to enjoy on the Dal lake besides taking in the mandatory Shikara ride. Kashmir truly is heaven on earth and my love for this beautiful region and it's people makes it my favourite place on earth.
