One such phrase that we go over is “Que fais-tu pendant ton temps libre? (what do you do in your free time?)” Another way to say this is "Qu'est-ce que tu fais pendant ton temps libre?" Notice that in French, the adjective goes after the noun - temps libre. To respond to this you would say, "Pendant mon temps libre je fais... or j'aime" Since aimer is already conjugated, in your responses you would just say the infinitive of the activities like "J'aime danser, cuisiner, chanter" . Let’s look at another French conversation starter: “Tu peux l'expliquer en français?”. If you're a bit more of an advanced beginner, I would really encourage you to use this phrase. This means "Can you explain that in French?" So let's someone says a word you don't know, instead of the other person just telling you the translation in English, you're requesting them to explain the word in French. For example if someone says "des cacahuètes" and you ask them to explain that in French, they may say, "Une cacahuète est une noix - les américains l'aiment manger comme du beurre avec de la confiture dans des sandwichs."
