http://www.basketball-reference.com/b... Kobe Bryant had 30 points and 8 assists to lead the Lakers charge. Paul Pierce had 28 to lead the Celtics to a 108-102 victory and a 2-0 lead in the series. The Lake Show fell behind by 18 points in the first half and by as many as 24 early in the 4th quarter. Bryant led the Lakers back in a furious rally to cut the deficit to 2 with a minute left. The Celtics kept the Lakers at bay with free throws. The Lakers looked unstoppable in their rally as they outscored Boston 31-9 in a 6 minute span of the 4th quarter. The Lakers were hurt early on by some questionable officiating. Who knows how differently this decades long rivalry would have ended if the Lakers had gone home with a split. The Lakers completing the comeback would have taken ALL the momentum heading home for games 3-5...and maybe the Lakers would have bested the Celtics instead.
