I'm Yune Bando, a 19-year-old from Fukuoka Prefecture🌤️. I graduated from high school in March 2024 and am currently taking a gap year! A gap year is a period of time, usually about a year, taken after high school graduation before moving on to higher education or employment, during which individuals spend time exploring themselves and gaining social experience. I left my parents in Fukuoka and attended a high school in Kanagawa that offered the International Baccalaureate (IB) program because I wanted to "explore the world" and "receive a unique, inquisitive education". I tried my hand at various internships and volunteer activities, started my own activity group, and even went so far as to seriously audition to become a K-pop idol. Finally, I decided to apply to a university in the US. However, while writing my application essay, I realized how obsessed I was with "external evaluation" and "success. I realized that I needed to take a step back and think about what I really wanted to do before investing so much time and money in going to university, so I am currently living my gap year to the fullest 🔥. Although gap years are incredibly rare in Japan, I'm going to share my real struggles and dilemmas as a 19-year-old navigating this path! instagram📷 / yunexploration vlog✒️ https://note.com/bando_yune X💭 https://x.com/bando_yune #gapyear #ギャップイヤー #国際バカロレア #internationalbaccalaureate #ib #海外大学 #進路 #留学 #英語 #z世代 #genz #10代
