The European Reference Genome Atlas Community

The application of genomic science to biodiversity research is driving fundamental advances in conservation science and policy. The pan-European consortium of Biodiversity Genomics Europe (BGE) is leading the way by accelerating the use of genomics to enhance our understanding and monitoring of biodiversity to guide intervention to address its decline. The session will be dedicated to BGE and to its two networks, iBOL Europe, which focuses on DNA barcoding, and the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA), which focuses on reference genome sequencing. This 3-part session was dedicated to first showcasing the activities of the two networks and then communicating the major achievements accomplished since the start of the BGE project and the way the consortium plans to move forward in the near future.
