The Titan is a small tourist-oriented submarine operated by OceanGate, designed specifically to provide paid tours of the Titanic wreck. The Titan weighs 10,432 kg, is about 6 m 70 cm long and 2.80 m wide, and has an endurance of 96 hours with oxygen. It is operated by OceanGate to dive to 4,000 m of ocean depth, without a permit. Because the ship's porthole is only certified to a depth of 1,300 m, OceanGate declined to pay the additional certification fee for the porthole to be installed to 4,000 m. The Titan could move at speeds of up to 3 knots using four electric motors, two horizontal and two vertical. Its steering consisted of a Logitech F710 wireless game controller with modified analog sticks.
