My first exhibition visit of 2025 was to the one organised by the Southampton Model Railway Society (SMRS) and held at the Barton Peveril College, Eastleigh, Hants over the weekend 25th/26th January. This has been an interesting exhibition on my past visits and this years did not disappoint. Apologies to those exhibitors whose layouts I didn't manage to video; I hope to see you again at another exhibition. Layouts featured in Part 1: 00:00 Southampton MRS Exhibition 2025 Part 1 Intro. 00:46 Kinmundy - EM gauge; 4mm scale - Southampton MRS. A frosty day on a Scottish branch line terminus station and goods yard that is supposed to have survived into the 1960s. 04:39 Modbury - 2mm Finescale; 9.42mm gauge - Ian Smith. A 'might-have-been' GWR through station in the Edwardian era featuring Brunel's Baulk Road track. 08:30 Staindrop - 0 gauge; 7mm scale - Chris Robertson, Epsom & Ewell MRC. A 'might-have-been' branch line in the south-west Durham area circa 1928. 12:21 Possil Road Canal Basin - 0 gauge; 7mm scale - John Purdle, Southampton MRS. Freelance layout set in the BR Scottish Region around Glasgow in the 1950s to early 1960s. 14:22 Quay Street - N gauge - Ron Boreham. Southern Region around the London area during the 1960s/1970s. 16:24 Hills of the North - The Spirit of Shap - 00 gauge; 4mm scale - Graham Nicholas. Atmospheric creation of the climb over the Shap summit in the Cumbrian fells from the 1950s to the blue & grey era. 22:50 Stedham Mill - 3mm scale; TT3 gauge - Paul Hopkins. An interpretation of a line that was never built to connect the LSWR and LBSCR, with a junction at Stedham. 25:52 St Kew Highway - 0 gauge - Member of Gauge 0 Guild. Small layout of a temporary terminus in North Cornwall. 26:46 Hampstone Junction - 00 gauge - Southampton MRS. Work in progress on a new SMRS layout featuring a fictional station in the heart of Hampshire from 2000 to 2019. Music: Late Night Train by Vans in Japan (free YouTube download).
