Application: How to use SBR Super Latex (Waterproofing & Repairs)?

How to use Cemseal SBR Super Latex? Ensure that the surface where SBR Super Latex is to be applied is free from dust, loose particles, grease, wax and oil. If present, clean it thoroughly with water and a wire brush. Cemseal SBR Super Latex, also shortly called as SBR, is used in various ways, and the method of application varies depending on the surface we intend to waterproof. 1. Waterproofing on the Roof: Before applying SBR on the roof, make sure the area is clean. Then, fill any visible cracks with a mixture of Cemseal Krackfill, Krackfill+ and water (mix 1 kg Krackfill powder with 200 ml Krackfill+ and water according to your need of consistency). Allow it to dry for at least 4 hours. After filling the cracks, prepare a mixture of 5 kg cement (preferably Cemseal Poly Cement or any other good cement), 1 liter of SBR Super Latex, and 1.5 liters of water. Apply three coats on the roof using a paintbrush, allowing at least 4 hours between coats. Make sure you apply coats alternatively - horizontal & vertical. Time to cure each coat will depend on weather conditions. Do not forget to cover parapet fully while coating. After applying three coats, allow at least 48 hours for final curing. Make sure that there is no rain on day of application and 3 days after that. One can use fibre mash to enhance the waterproofing though it is not mandatory. 2. Waterproofing on Walls: Ensure that the wall is free from any water or dampness. Fill any cracks present with the method explained in point #1. Mix 1 liter of SBR or Stabilisol+ with 20 liters of Cemseal Stabisol in a bucket. Apply three coats on the wall with a paintbrush, allowing at least 4 hours between coats. Allow at least 48 hours for final curing. Make sure you apply coats alternatively - horizontal & vertical. No water must touch to paint during this duration. Be extra cautious during monsoon and coat only on those days when there is no chance of rain. 3. Repair Work with SBR: SBR can waterproof any cement-made object and repair honeycombing on walls or concrete. Wherever repair work needs to be done, ensure that there is no dust, loose particles, or any other debris present. If any such material is present, clean it thoroughly. After cleaning, mix 1 liter of SBR with 1 kilogram of Cemseal Poly Cement (or any other good cement) and thoroughly blend the mixture. Now, apply this mixture to the areas where there are cracks, honeycombing, or any other errors (according to your requirement). Allow it to dry for at least 48 hours. Be careful that no water comes in contact with this coating during these 48 hours (especially if it's raining). If there's a possibility of rain, take special precautions and apply the coating on days when rain is not expected. 4. Waterproofing in Concrete: To enhance the strength and flexibility of concrete, add 200-300 ml of SBR to 50 kg of cement while working with concrete. 5. Waterproofing in Bathrooms: Ensure that the surface is free from dust, loose particles, and any solid materials during plastering time. If there are any cracks, fill them with a mixture of Krackfill & Krackfill+ as explained earlier. Give it 4 hours to cure. If bathroom is not a new structure, apply a pure coat of SBR. Give 4 hours to cure. Mix 1 liter of SBR with 1.5 kg of Poly Cement or any other cement. Apply two coats, one each in horizontal & vertical direction. Allow rest of at least 4 hours between coats. Allow at least 48 hours for final curing. During the curing process, ensure that no water comes in contact with the coating (especially if it's raining).
