He is also the President of Caritas Internationalis and of the Catholic Biblical Federation. Cardinal Tagle has been appointed by several Popes as a member of several Vatican commissions and offices, including the International Theological Commission, Congregation for Catholic Education, Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Pontifical Council for the Family, and the Pontifical Council of the Laity, among others. He has participated in a number of Synod of Bishops, the most recent of which is the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops for the Family, of which Pope Francis appointed him as President-Delegate.
