Iran has had a century of modern institutions—armies, elections, ministries, courts. So why does the country keep erupting in protest? This video traces a single hidden pattern across two very different regimes—the Pahlavi monarchy and the Islamic Republic—and shows how both tried to “solve” dissent the same way: build institutions strong enough to contain society… and accidentally manufacture the next wave of opposition. We follow the chain from state-building and centralization under Reza Shah, to SAVAK and surveillance under Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, to the post-1979 scramble for power, the constitution and velayat-e faqih, the Iran–Iraq War and the rise of parallel security structures, and finally the legitimacy shocks that defined a new era: 2009 (Green Movement), 2019 (fuel price protests + internet shutdown), and 2022 (Mahsa/Jina Amini + “Woman, Life, Freedom”). If you want to understand Iranian politics, Iran protests, and why “stability” keeps cracking under the same pressure points, this is the map.
