Geddes, N.Y.-- Just half an hour after the dough started slinging, a line of cars snaked through the Orange Parking Lot at the New York State Fairgrounds all the way to the Interstate 690 exit Friday just after noon. The rabid desire to get the white bags of sweetened pizza dough from Villa Pizze Fritte was evident, as, by 2 pm, people were already two hours deep in line. But was it just the fritte? “We love our kids, but they can be time-consuming. They make the days go by...and they make the days go by,” said Karla Gardner, of Onondaga, who waited two hours with her husband Trent, the forementioned kids at home with the grandparents. Like Gardner, many just came out to get out of the house, stuck inside for over 45 days due to the coronavirus quarantine. The three-day sale of the State Fair fried dough treat will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a two-foot piece at $4 or a bag of five for $15. A portion of the cash-only purchases will go to charities, said co-owner Grazi Zazzara Jr.
