Gok Zai 角仔 – Chinese New Year deep fried dumplings 賀年油角 Gok Zai is one of the most traditional and popular Chinese New Year snacks in Southern China. Gok Zais are shaped like a 'pocket', or a purse, stuffed with a moreish sweet and savoury filling and absolutely yummy! It is regarded as a good sign of wealth. These dumplings are the most crispy when lard is used for the pastry. If you don't like lard, you can replace it with vegetable oil or solidified vegetable oil for a healthier alternative. 油角 是中國南方地區最傳統和流行的賀年食品之一, 油角的形狀像'荷包', 即錢包, 包入香甜可口餡料, 鼓鼓的一隻,取其錢包飽脹的好兆頭. 用豬油做的油角最酥脆, 不喜歡的可以用植物油或固體植物油代替.
