Cumbre Flamenca 2016 ~ DANIELA ZERMEÑO was born and raised in Santa Barbara and began dancing at the age of 4. Her love for this passionate art form pushed Daniela and her family to travel to Los Angeles throughout her childhood to study with numerous professional dancers and instructors such as Domingo Ortega, Alfonso Losa, Concha Vargas, Juan Talavera, Briseyda Zarate and Roberto Amaral. Now, an accomplished dancer in her own right Daniela decided to share her passion for dance. Her Zermeño Dance Academy has grown tremendously through the years and is now comprised of 150 dancers studying in several different genres. In recent years, over 25 of Daniela’s students have been chosen as finalists in the local dance competition representing Santa Barbara and Old Spanish Day’s Fiesta! Since 2015, Daniela has been an invaluable part of the development of our Vida Flamenca Masterclass & International Mentorship Program. Her Zermeño Dance Academy in Goleta, California has hosted both Domingo and sister Inmaculada Ortega for classes, workshops and one-on-one instruction. This distinguished program provides a motivating experience for all dancers involved by increasing technique, cultivating creativity and further dance training for performance and personal enjoyment. The Mentorship Program is designed for beginner to talented dancers with extraordinary abilities in search of additional guidance, knowledge, experience and inspiration. The program is customized to each dancer’s level. The mentorship program gives dancers the undivided attention of respected teachers whose sole aim is to help them reach their highest potential. The "Tientos" solo you are seeing here is an original performance piece developed and choreographed by Domingo Ortega through our Mentorship program.
